Grant-funded tower will provide internet to Gilbert Middle School, R.L. Brown Academy students
Through a $180,000 grant from the Internet Society, Duval County Public Schools is poised to erect a 100-foot tower near Matthew Gilbert Middle School which will boost broadband access in a three-mile radius and provide access to the schoolโs existing network.
Woman arrested after gun pulled during fight among parents at Matthew Gilbert Middle School
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ An altercation between parents Tuesday morning outside Matthew Gilbert Middle School on Jacksonvilleโs Eastside ended when police were called and one of the adults was charged with possession of a gun on school property. According to a police report, Moenika Ellis, 31, got into a fight with three other parents in the parking lot. According to the JSO arrest report, Ellis never pointed the gun at anyone, but did resist arrest and was also charged with possession of marijuana. He said his daughter had been attacked by Ellisโ daughter during school. โSo what I did was, when she said she was attacked, what normal parents do, I go to the school,โ Wiggins said.
Jacksonville community group gives new rides to 11 middle schoolers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Eleven Jacksonville children were riding brand new bicycles Saturday thanks to a partnership with their school and Jacksonville Gullah Geechee Nation Community Development Corporation. Shadai Otero, Demetrius Reed and Tyavion Mitchell were among the Matthew Gilbert Middle School students to receive bikes. Jacksonville Gullah Geechee Nation Community Development Corporation donated 11 bikes to local middle schoolers.
