Road rage shooting at Palm Coast McDonald’s leaves man hospitalized, deputies say

PALM COAST, Fla. – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that erupted from a road rage confrontation late Tuesday night in the drive-thru of a Palm Coast McDonald’s.

Deputies responded around 10:20 p.m. to the McDonald’s on Belle Terre Parkway after multiple 911 callers reported a reckless driver, a road rage incident and gunshots fired. When deputies arrived, they found several people at the scene, including a 50-year-old Palm Coast man detectives identified as the shooter and a 61-year-old man from Daytona North who had a facial injury and multiple gunshot wounds.

Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue paramedics treated the injured man at the scene. He was then airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he is listed in stable condition. The shooter was also taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.

What led to the shooting

Investigators say the confrontation began as a road rage incident between the shooter and others on Belle Terre Parkway before escalating into the McDonald’s parking lot and ultimately the drive-thru lane. Detectives say the other people involved in the initial road rage encounter were not directly involved in the shooting itself.

The FCSO Major Case and Crime Scene Investigation units responded overnight, and detectives interviewed multiple witnesses. Investigators say they are continuing to piece together the relationships, if any, among all parties involved.

Sheriff urges drivers to call, not confront

“Our deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators worked throughout the night and are still working diligently to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case,” said Sheriff Rick Staly.

“We have identified all persons involved, and there is no threat to the community. I remind all drivers that it is much better to call law enforcement and let us investigate than to engage in a road rage incident,” Staly said.

No arrests made

As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
