Woman believes bones discovered on Lincrest Drive belong to her father, missing since 2024

Woman believes human remains found in yard of Northside home were her missing fathers (WJXT)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville woman came forward after human remains were discovered on a Northside street, saying she believes the bones belong to her father, who has been missing for more than two years.

Shateria Porter filed a missing person report for her father, Roderick Porter, in March 2024. She said he lived in the same house on Lincrest Drive where investigators uncovered the trail of human bones.

Porter said she learned about the discovery from a family message late in the evening.

“I was at home. It was late in the evening. It was around 9:23 p.m. I got a message from a family member on my father’s side, and they just asked me had I seen the news,” Porter said. “I instantly responded, ‘The news about what?’”

She said she searched online and immediately felt a connection to the story.

“I just Googled and seen there were remains in the yard, and before I even knew the address, I just felt that it was my dad,” Porter said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office uncovered the human remains one day before Porter spoke out. Investigators told News4JAX the identification process could take months, if not years.

JSO has not confirmed whether the remains belong to Roderick Porter.
