Restaurant owner launches GoFundMe after fire leaves Southside business “beyond repair”

Fire at Streeter Acclaimed Kitchen (WJXT)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owner of Streeter Acclaimed Kitchen has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser after a fire he said was caused by an electrical issue left the Jacksonville restaurant beyond repair.

Johnathan Streeter wrote that he noticed a burning smell at the restaurant, located on Crane Ave., around 4 p.m. Saturday, left the premises at 7 p.m., then got a call about 9:30 p.m. telling him the restaurant was on fire. He said the damage was so extensive “the restaurant is no longer fixable.”

Streeter said the loss has put employee paychecks at risk and added that he is still under lease until 2029. He said he is seeking to break the lease and relocate so the business can reopen elsewhere.

The fundraiser, titled “Help Chef John Rebuild After Restaurant Fire,” said payroll and relocation costs are the top priorities. As of Sunday, it had raised $4,080 from 55 donations.
