JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer clocked him driving 100 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on Beach Boulevard — more than double the speed limit.
A JSO officer caught the driver of a 2018 Audi S5 hitting 100 mph while weaving in and out of lanes on Beach Boulevard near Kernan Boulevard.

The officer immediately pulled the vehicle over. When the officer approached, the driver said he did not know how fast he was going.
“He said that he had recently fixed an issue on the vehicle and did a launch to see how the vehicle ran,” according to the arrest report.
Two passengers were also in the vehicle at the time — a 20-year-old male and a 19-year-old female.
According to the arrest report, the driver had previously received a speeding citation in February.
Officers noted that Beach Boulevard is considered a high-frequency crash area, and that pedestrians frequently cross the roadway outside of designated crosswalks.
“The suspect was operating his vehicle in a dangerous manner with no regard for the safety of his occupants or any other individuals on the roadway,” the report stated.
The 19-year-old was charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle at 100 mph or more, threatening a person or property, which is a second-degree misdemeanor.
