JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bartram Trail and Baker County both joined Raines and University Christain as area team that will play for state football championships in Orlando.
Bartram Trail (11-3) beat Tampa Plant 34-29 behind two first half rushing touchdowns by quarterback Joey Gatewood, an Auburn commit, as the Bears earned the school's first ever state finals appearance. Bartram Trail will face Venice (14-1), whose only loss came to IMG Academy, ranked by USA Today as the #2 team in the country.
Baker County (13-1) also earned the school's first finals appearance as the Wildcats topped West Florida 42-28 in Pensacola. Seth Paige scored four rushing touchdowns for Baker County. Lee Graham ran for two touchdowns and also snagged an interception for the Wildcats, who will face undefeated Plantation American Heritage -- who are ranked 7th nationally by USA Today -- in the state finals.

4A – Thursday 7 p.m. - Raines vs. Cocoa
2A – Friday 10 a.m. - University Christian vs. Champagnat Catholic
5A – Friday 3 p.m. - Baker County/West Florida vs. American Heritage
7A – Saturday – 3 p.m. – Bartram Trail vs. Venice
In Georgia, Clinch County advanced to the Public A finals with a win over Carrolton Mt. Zion. They will face Irwin County in the state finals at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
In the other games involving a team from our area, Armwood beat St. Augustine 30-6, handing the Yellowjackets their only loss of the year and ending their chances of winning a state championship. In Georgia class 6A, Glynn Academy fell 42-38 to Lee County in the state semifinals.
