JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Creekside girls brought the curtain down on the high school state track and field championships on a rainy Saturday at UNF, winning their first team title to wrap the Class 4A meet.
The Knights won the final event of the week, clocking a 3-minutes, 49.33-second time in the 4x400 relay to edge St. Thomas Aquinas by two points for the team title (47-45). Creekside excelled in the relays, taking second in the 4x800 and the 4x100. Shot put athlete Suin Crowley was also state runner-up.
Flagler Palm Coast’s Karina Marcelus had an excellent meet, winning the triple jump (40-8.75), and finishing as runner-up in the 100 hurdles.
For the boys, Creekside’s Josh Howell was runner-up in the 200, and Flagler Palm Coast won the 4x400 relay to headline a sixth-place team finish.
