Students were met with increased security Wednesday morning when they arrived at First Coast High School a day after a shooting not far from the campus left one teenager dead and another four hospitalized.
In a message Tuesday to parents of students at First Coast High School, Principal Justin Fluent said the school will be taking enhanced security measures “in light of the acts of violence taking place in our area.”

Gretchin Hope Thompson, a former teacher of First Coast High School who was accused of soliciting a romantic relationship with a student, has pleaded guilty to an amended charge of felony battery, according to court documents.

A First Coast High science teacher accused of soliciting a romantic relationship with a student is facing a criminal charge.

Abdul Adams and Moe Neal had touchdown runs in the fourth quarter for the Orange, who have yet to earn a win over a Power 5 team. Marvin Wilson had two of Florida State's season-high seven sacks. Florida State plays host to Miami on Saturday.
