Neighbors packed the county complex in St. Augustine on Thursday, wearing red and urging officials to reject a proposed Daily’s gas station and car wash that would sit beside the Fruit Cove Estates neighborhood along State Road 13.

Jacksonville police responded early Sunday morning to a shooting at the Sunoco gas station located at 1393 Kings Road. Officers arrived around 6:10 a.m. to find two victims with gunshot wounds. A third victim later flagged down officers nearby.

Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida's Big Bend as a category 3 storm. Winds over 100 mph forced a gas station awning in Perry to topple over. Other areas of Perry suffered damage.

Nikki Fried is taking aim at gas station skimmers, throwing her support behind a bill that seeks to put new safeguards in place to protect consumers in the state.

“As I looked around, I realized gas stations didn’t close down during the COVID-19, so I thought it was a wise investment,” said Walker. The gas station is located on the busy corner off of Arlington Expressway where there is lots of talk about the new owner. Walker said BP called her with news that she had made history buy investing in the gas station. Since the grand opening, Walker said she has the first Black-owned BP gas station in the state. Walker hopes other minorities will become interested in buying a gas station.
