A 24-year-old man who was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles in a crash that killed a TikTok influencer and two others will spend 202 days in jail after being convicted of vehicular homicide.

Three people were hospitalized Tuesday after one of them fled from police, sparking a pursuit that ended when that driver struck two other cars at a downtown intersection, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. auto sales rose more than 11% in the first quarter, as strong March sales far outpaced last year when coronavirus pandemic began.

Automakers on Tuesday reported selling 14.57 million new vehicles for the year, a far cry from the five previous years with sales over 17 million. Auto sales tumbled 34% in the first half of the year as factories closed for about two months, cutting off the supply of new vehicles. That and low interest rates drove sales up and pushed the average auto sales price to a record of just over $38,000 in December, according to J.D. Retail sales to individual buyers are close to normal levels, but sales to fleet buyers such as rental car companies are still down. Among automakers, GM's sales were down 11.9% for the year, while Toyota sales were off 11.4%.
