More than a dozen kittens are ready for adoption after graduating from the kitten-fostering program at the Flagler County Jail.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a foster volunteer with the Jacksonville Humane Society, now is the perfect time. More than 80 kittens are waiting for loving homes.

With kitten season still in full swing, the Jacksonville Humane Society is calling on the community to open their hearts and homes to more than 115 kittens currently waiting for foster care.

JHS is calling on the community to save the lives of baby kittens after 443 kittens were brought into the shelter in the last 30 days.

So far in 2025, the Jacksonville Humane Society has taken in 317 kittens, and 216 of those came in the last 30 days. JHS has served an additional 65 kittens through its Kitten Krusader program.

With kitten season upon us, these organizations are eager to share the purr-fect advice on how to lend a paw if you stumble upon a litter of kittens.

The public can help in many ways, the first being to act as temporary foster parents by bringing kittens into their homes and raising them until they are 8 weeks of age.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Safe Animal Shelter in Clay County asked for the community’s help with donations of kitten food and other supplies... and boy did they deliver! The animal shelter told News4Jax they surpassed their goal within 24 hours. “We have received so much food we are running out of room!” Safe Animal Shelter told News4Jax. Safe received monetary donations from all over Jacksonville and Clay County, as well as different states. “Thank you to everyone for your kindness and generosity,” Sherry Mansfield, Director of Safe Animal Shelter, said.
