The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a suspect who they believe was involved in several recent burglaries on the Westside.

A Lakeshore couple is lucky to be alive after a massive tree fell on their property, destroying priceless belongings and condemning their home of nearly five years.

A person was seriously hurt in a shooting Friday morning in the Hillcrest area on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a violent Fourth of July weekend for the River City. We now have details about two deadly Jacksonville shootings that happened within 90 minutes of each other on Sunday, and a third that happened Sunday evening. The second happened on Broadway Avenue, where police found a man shot to death in a yard. Sunday’s shootings follow multiple shootings that happened on Friday and Saturday. In total, 10 people in Jacksonville were injured or killed in shootings this weekend.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday afternoon on Lake Shore Boulevard between Plymouth and Park streets. Police said they got several 911 calls reporting gunshots at 3:20 p.m. Officers found a 25-35 man shot to death inside a car that had crashed into a pickup truck. Investigators were told by witnesses that there was an argument that escalated to gunfire and the shooter was seen leaving in a red Dodge Challenger. Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.

A crash has shut down Lake Shore Boulevard in both directions for one block on Jacksonville's Westside. Lake Shore Boulevard northbound and southbound is closed from Shirley Avenue to Marlene Avenue.
