He revived the sport at Miami and Louisville and started the program at Florida Atlantic during a coaching career that spanned a half century. His legacy includes on-campus stadiums at Louisville and Florida Atlantic. He then founded the program at Florida Atlantic and retired as coach after 11 seasons highlighted by back-to-back bowl victories. AdAt Miami, Schnellenberger took over in 1979 amid debate about whether the moribund program should fold.

Former Georgia coach Richt 'doing fine' after heart attack

Richt, 59, acknowledged the episode in a message posted on his verified Twitter account late Monday morning, but the former coach turned broadcast analyst indicated it won't sideline him for long. So I wanted to be able to inform everyone that I did have a heart attack this morning. He joined Miami after compiling a 145-51 record in 15 seasons as head coach at the University of Georgia. No. 23 Georgia, Nebraska rematch in Gator Bowl

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Georgia and Nebraska will face each other in the postseason for the second straight year -- this time on New Years Day in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. The Bulldogs and Cornhuskers were paired in the Gator Bowl on Sunday, a rematch of last year's Capital One Bowl. Georgia has a 2-0-1 overall record in the Gator Bowl. Nebraska, the Big Ten Conference representative, will make its second appearance in the Gator Bowl Classic, where they hold a 1-0 record after defeating Clemson in the 2009 Gator Bowl.
