The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released footage of an officer-involved shooting. It began at Dutton Island Preserve with a rifle incident and ended fatally at Dutton Island Road and Mayport Road.

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – Police renewed their appeal to the public as two men, Bobby Williams and Travon Williams, wanted for questioning in a shooting in Atlantic Beach still haven’t been found. Atlantic Beach Police released the photos and names of two men Wednesday. A spokesperson for the department said the men are persons of interest in an exchange of gunfire last week in a neighborhood off Mayport Road. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man riding a bicycle on Mayport Road was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said the bicyclist was riding in the road, north of Dutton Island Road, about 6:20 p.m. when he was struck. That officer was able to catch up to the driver in just a few blocks, and he was arrested. The driver now faces charges of fleeing and resisting on top of the charges he will face for hitting the bicyclist, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He said he has been hit twice before while cycling along Mayport Road.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The U.S. Navy is concerned about possible contaminants that may have seeped into the ground and ended up in private drinking water wells around Naval Station Mayport and Outlying Landing Field Whitehouse. As a proactive measure, the Navy plans to sample water from private drinking wells around the base near Mayport Road and Wonderwood Drive, and around OLF Whitehouse near Halsema and Old Plank roads. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Video sent to News4Jax from a viewer Friday appears to show a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus going around a median and into oncoming traffic. News4Jax shared the video with JTA, and the agency said it appears to have happened earlier in the month. JTA sent a statement reading in part:The safety and security of our passengers, bus operators and other drivers is paramount. As the operator was coming to a stop, which they are required to check for oncoming trains, the warning lights and bells activated after he passed the crossing arm. The photo and video come less than a week after Jeanie Rozar died when she became entangled after getting off a JTA bus.
