Read full article: Police: Driver arrested after bicyclist seriously hurt in Mayport Road hit-and-runJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man riding a bicycle on Mayport Road was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said the bicyclist was riding in the road, north of Dutton Island Road, about 6:20 p.m. when he was struck. That officer was able to catch up to the driver in just a few blocks, and he was arrested. The driver now faces charges of fleeing and resisting on top of the charges he will face for hitting the bicyclist, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He said he has been hit twice before while cycling along Mayport Road.

News4Jax shared the video with JTA, and the agency said it appears to have happened earlier in the month. JTA sent a statement reading in part:The safety and security of our passengers, bus operators and other drivers is paramount. As the operator was coming to a stop, which they are required to check for oncoming trains, the warning lights and bells activated after he passed the crossing arm. The photo and video come less than a week after Jeanie Rozar died when she became entangled after getting off a JTA bus.
