The National Park Service has announced that in 2023, there will be five days where admission to sites will be free to the public.

America’s National Parks were originally protected because of their natural beauty and their “wow” factor. Today there is a diverse array of parks within the system including Timucuan Preserve right here in Jacksonville.

One of this year’s entrance fee-free days is coming up at our country’s National Parks, meaning if you want to visit, you won’t have to pay admission.

Gabby Petito, 22, set out on a road trip with her boyfriend in a converted camper van in early July to tour National Parks, according to her family, but she disappeared in late August and they haven't heard from her in more than two weeks.

There are 419 National Park Service sites, and of those, 110 typically charge an entrance fee, with costs ranging from $5 to $35, the NPS said. Just be aware, the entrance-fee waiver for the free days don’t cover amenity or user fees for things like camping, boat launches, transportation or special tours.
