An ECG test revealed that a local 14-year-old had an undiagnosed heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, which can cause the heart to beat out of rhythm and trigger sudden cardiac arrest.

A new Florida law now makes it mandatory for new student-athletes to get their heart checked before they can play a sport in high school.
