On Thursday, Nov. 7, AARP is hosting a “AARP’s Cultural Expressions: The Arts & Brain Health” event. The event will focus on healthcare and how the arts help people living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Deb McDuffie has been an integral part of the Ritz Theatre & Museum ever since it's reopening in 1999, first as production manager, director of Ritz Voices, and producer of Ritz Amateur Night. More recently she functions as Artistic Director for the venue, where she still directs Ritz Voices and produced Puttin' on the Ritz, and also produces the Ritz Heritage Concert Series featuring community talent.
Ritz Theatre & Museum is a landmark in Jacksonville history. Opened in 1914 as a movie theater, the Ritz was rebuilt and reopened in 1999 as a performance theatre. It is home to Ritz Voices, Puttin’ on the Ritz Amateur Night, and Heritage Concert Series. The museum chronicles the rich history of the LaVilla neighborhood, as well as providing visual art exhibits that reflect the African American diaspora.
