Spirit Halloween stores are officially open for visitors to shop for Halloween costumes, decorations, animatronics, games, accessories and more!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Halloween is a little more than a month away, but the coronavirus pandemic is scaring away some holiday retailers. Party City plans to open just 25 pop-up stores under its “Halloween City” brand this year, which is a 91-percent reduction compared to last year. Store manager at Spirit Halloween at Regency Square Mall, Andrew Edelman, said there’s nothing spooky about this year’s business, despite the pandemic. For years around this time, the former Sears space inside the mall becomes Spirit Halloween. The CDC has released a complete list of activities of what it calls low risk, moderate, and higher risk activities that should be avoided.

The LULAC vote was taken a day after CNN asked the group to respond to photos of costumes sold by Party City, Spirit Halloween, Rubie's Costume Company and on Amazon. CNN affiliate KRQE had earlier reported on shoppers' reaction to a "Mexican Man" costume for sale at a Spirit Halloween store in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Selling and dressing up in these costumes is just this -- it's racist and unacceptable," Benavides told CNN in an earlier statement. Outrage over similar costumes sold by Spirit Halloween dates to at least October 2009, when the East Bay Times reported on Latino residents of that California community being upset about it.
