University Christian’s quest for a spot in the boys basketball state championship game ran into problems in the second half.

The University Christian softball team will get a shot to defend its state championship after a 4-1 win over John Carroll Catholic in the Class 2A state semifinals on Tuesday in Clermont.

The News4JAX Super 6 softball rankings will be published each Thursday through the end of the regular season. Results are through March 22 games.

University Christian must move past the upset of the two-time defending state champions Trinity Christian and focus on Friday's Final Four matchup with Clearwater Central Catholic.
