A coyote believed to be behind several recent attacks on residents and pets in Atlantic Beach has been found dead in a junkyard, police said Thursday.

Cathey said a coyote attacked him near Donald Dagley’s Workshop, a junkyard not far from Begonia Street where he works. A fellow worker was able to take a photograph of the coyote.

The City of Atlantic Beach is investigating multiple reports of coyote attacks in Atlantic Beach.

The Atlantic Beach City Commission approved on Monday an ordinance aimed at regulating bikes, e-bikes and personal mobility devices.

The ordinance will be introduced at Atlantic Beach City Hall at the 6 p.m. meeting. The second and final reading will be on March 10.

Perkins is accused of attacking the responding officer about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, knocking the officer unconscious. A man in his 20s who attacked an Atlantic Beach police officer Thursday morning in a parking lot in front of a Panera Bread restaurant, knocking the officer unconscious, was shot when he advanced on a backup officer.
