61-year-old Georgia woman hit by pickup truck, killed in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck Tuesday night in Columbia County and died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the woman, who is from Valdosta, Georgia, was hit at the intersection of U.S. 441 and County Road 252.

FHP said it’s still investigating the crash but that the pickup truck, which was driven by a 33-year-old man from Fort White, was headed south on U.S. 441 when it struck the woman.

A 14-year-old girl in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, and a 9-year-old boy in the truck was not hurt, troopers said. According to the report, the girl was wearing a seat belt, but the boy wasn’t.

The driver was also wearing a seat belt and was not hurt, troopers said.
