Partly to mostly cloudy skies across the area as showers and thunderstorms wind down along a frontal boundary in southeast Georgia. Strong to isolated thunderstorms will be possible as the front sags along the state line. I expect the bulk of the beneficial rain to be north of the state line, with isolated storms possible near and along I-10 and I-75.
Radar-estimated rainfall rates for southeast Georgia through 3 p.m. were a trace to around a third of an inch. Northeast Florida has remained dry, but a couple of showers and isolated storms could drop a little rain near the Suwannee River and Columbia County.
Through tonight: Areas of rain with embedded thunderstorms will be possible through around 7 p.m. These will affect southeast Georgia, mainly west of Highway 301, and northeast Florida along I-10. Cloudy skies will continue, with patchy fog for inland areas.
Scattered showers with thunderstorms will linger through Monday, followed by a string of near-seasonal temperatures.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms possible through early evening.
Friday: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing late, 20-30 percent. Lows in the upper 60s for SE GA, 60s to 70s for NE FL. Highs in the 70s to 80s. Wind: N/NE 10-15 mph. Cloudy overnight with showers possible.
Mother’s Day weekend: Model and rain forecast updates continue to show the potential for the heaviest rain over southeast Georgia. Estimates of 0.5 to 1.25 inches are forecast for SE GA, with 0.10-0.50 of an inch for NE FL.
