Another scorcher ahead with afternoon showers and storms

Today’s forecast is shaping up to be a classic late-June day across Jacksonville.

Expect a warm, humid start with temperatures climbing into the lower 90s this afternoon, while heat index values push into the low 100s.

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds through much of the day before the sea breeze helps spark scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms.

Not everyone will see rain, but any storm that develops could produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds before tapering off around sunset.

Keep the umbrella handy if you’ll be out later today, and be sure to stay hydrated in the summer heat.

Showers and storms will be strongest along the I-75 corridor from about 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
