National Beach Day: Best beaches in Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia Check out these SnapJAX photos!
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tuesday, Aug. 30, is National Beach Day and we are shouting about how much we love our beaches from the rooftops!
There are exactly 189 beaches across the state of Florida. Duval County alone has more than 22 miles of beautiful beaches.
While we encourage everyone to celebrate today with fun and relaxation — today is meant to make sure this natural resource is kept clean for future generations to enjoy.

One simple reminder — leave the beach cleaner than you found it. Bring an extra bag and fill it with debris you find while walking on the beach.

When it comes to the Best Florida Beaches — U.S. News said there were 15 . One beach in Northeast Florida made the list! Amelia Island came in at number 13. Click here to see the full list.
If you’re in search of a relaxing beach destination with old-world charm, consider vacationing on Amelia Island. Situated about 30 miles northeast of Jacksonville, Amelia Island features 13 miles of beaches, including Amelia Island State Park (where you can ride horses on the beach) and Main Beach Park (with a playground, an outdoor skate park, picnic tables, volleyball courts and more). When you need a break from the beach, play a round of golf on one of the island’s championship courses or enjoy a leisurely stroll beneath its Spanish moss-draped oak trees.
