MACCLENNY, Fla. – A hunter was hospitalized Tuesday morning after he was hit by shotgun pellets during a hunting accident in a wooded area north of Sanderson, according to the Baker County Sheriff Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Joey Dobson said the 34-year-old from North Carolina was shot by another hunter while out turkey hunting.

The man was struck in the head by more than 20 bird-shot pellets. He was taken to Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital and is expected to be OK.

The 59-year-old Sanderson man who fired the shot helped the wounded man until paramedics arrived.
