AMC Theatres customers across several U.S. states ran into a frustrating wall Tuesday when an apparent outage knocked out access to the company’s app and website, making it nearly impossible for some people to purchase tickets online.
According to Down Detector, an outage-tracking website, reports peaked at just over 1,000 around 12:20 p.m. By around 1 p.m., reports had dropped to approximately 100 — suggesting the issues were beginning to resolve.

The problems hit app users the hardest. Of those who reported issues, 77% experienced trouble with the app, 11% encountered problems with the website and 8% had difficulty logging in.
For many customers, the outage meant one thing: no tickets.
“Can’t buy tickets online or through the app without the site saying, ‘Sorry, an error has occurred. Please try again,’” one user wrote.
As of this writing, AMC Theatres had not addressed the outage on any of its social media channels, and it remained unclear what caused the disruption.
