76-year-old driver dies in crash, other driver seriously injured in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 76-year-old woman from The Villages died after colliding with a pickup truck Saturday morning in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the woman was driving east on Northwest 85th Loop and the stop sign intersection at US-441 at around 9:30 a.m. She then drove into the southbound lanes of US-441 to make a left turn, violating the right of way of a pickup truck.

The pickup truck collided with the left side of the woman’s car, the FHP report states.

FHP said the 76-year-old driver was transported to a local hospital where she died. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The 38-year-old man driving the pickup truck suffered serious injuries. One other passenger also sustained serious injuries, and two other passengers had minor injuries.
