18-year-old dies after being hit by semi-truck on I-95 in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old man died Saturday night after he was struck by a semi-truck southbound on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 11:35 p.m., the 18-year-old was driving a pickup truck on I-95 when it ran off the road onto the right shoulder. The driver then crossed all lanes before crashing into the center guardrail, according to the FHP report.

Following the crash, the driver exited his truck and began walking across the interstate.

That’s when a 47-year-old woman driving a semi-truck hit and killed the 18-year-old driver.

FHP said it’s unclear why the man started walking across the interstate.
