24-year-old motorcyclist dead after crash in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after he crashed into an SUV in Clay County Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the motorcycle was traveling west on Kingsley Avenue in the right lane and an SUV was traveling east on Kingsley turning left to go north on Plainfield Avenue.

The front of the motorcycle collided with the right side of the SUV and caused heavy damage to both vehicles.

Troopers said the SUV traveled onto the northwest shoulder and the motorcycle ended up in the intersection.

The 75-year-old woman driving the SUV and a 6-year-old male passenger, both from Middelburg, were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. both were wearing seat belts.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet during the crash, died at the hospital. He was from Fleming Island.
