Michelle Cook reelected as Clay County sheriff after defeating Darryl Daniels again

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Republican Michelle Cook will remain Clay County sheriff for another four years after beating out her opponent, former Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels for a second time.
She won against Daniels 80% to 20%.
Daniels (NPA) who ran challenged Cook for the sheriff’s seat after he was cleared of seven counts amid a scandal that included accusations of tampering with evidence, attempted destruction of evidence and five counts of lying to law enforcement .
The charges stemmed from his long-term affair with a former corrections officer.

Cook, 55, told News4JAX that her top three issues in the sheriff’s race were growth relationships and crime.
She said she was committed to providing a “high level” of service to the community, fostering genuine relationships and lowering crime rates.
In 2020, Michelle Cook won the race against Daniels 37% to 29%.
