JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Carnival Elation’s docking in Jacksonville was delayed due to the search-and-rescue being conducted by the United States Coast Guard on St. Johns River.
Friday, Jacksonville Fire Rescue confirmed one person was found dead near the capsized boat and four were recovered safely. The search for the remaining three boaters continues.
Carnival Cruise line ambassador John Heald made a Facebook post telling people to delay their terminal arrival appointment by three hours.
Elation will be delayed returning to the terminal, which will affect embarkation as a result.
JAXPORT’s Chief Communications Officer said there were no other interruptions. She said nothing else was affected because weekends tend to be quieter with not a lot of vessel activity.
Guests are asked to sign up for a text alert service by texting code CCL1 to CRUISE.
