30-year-old Jacksonville man killed in wrong way, head-on crash in Gainesville

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A 30-year-old man from Jacksonville was killed in a crash on State Road 24 in Gainesville Saturday night.
According to the preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a sedan eastbound in the westbound lanes of State Road 24 when he collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling westbound at NE 53rd Terrace around 11:45 p.m.

The impact caused the pickup truck to overturn, and the sedan to become engulfed in flames, according to the report.
The 30-year-old driver of the sedan was pronounced dead on the scene.
A 21-year-old man from Middleburg was driving the pickup truck with two passengers: another 21-year-old man from Middleburg and a 19-year-old woman from Macclenny.
All three suffered minor injuries, according to the report.
