ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – A suspected drunk driver crashed into two Atlantic Beach Police Department marked patrol cars late Friday night, triggering a chain-reaction collision on Atlantic Boulevard.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. while officers were conducting a traffic stop. According to ABPD, the impaired driver struck one marked police car, which then set off a chain reaction, hitting a second patrol car and the vehicle that had been stopped by officers.

Miraculously, no one was injured or transported from the scene.
“Drinking and driving puts innocent lives and motorists in extreme danger,” ABPD said. “Life can change in an instant. We are so grateful that our officers and the other motorists did not suffer any major injuries from this crash.”
Neptune Beach Police Department arrested the driver on a DUI charge.
ABPD is reminding drivers to pay attention on the road, slow down and move over when they see emergency lights on the roadside, and to designate a sober driver before drinking.
