Baptist Beaches & Baptist Nassau County to reopen Thursday

Baptist Beaches & Baptist Nassau County to reopen Thursday

Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Baptist Medical Center Nassau will reopen at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, with the Emergency Department among the first hospital units to open, along with labor and delivery, critical care, progressive care and medical/surgical units. A return to business as usual for scheduled surgical and procedural services will follow by Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 a.m.To ensure patient safety during Hurricane Dorian, Baptist Beaches and Baptist Nassau evacuated patients per mandatory evacuation orders. At Baptist Beaches, 110 patients had to evacuate. Baptist Jacksonville, Baptist South, Wolfson Children's Hospital and the Baptist/Wolfson satellite emergency departments at Clay, Town Center and North continued normal operations throughout the evacuation period. Baptist Beaches & Baptist Nassau County evacuate patients

Baptist Medical Center Beaches patients were transferred Monday to Baptist Medical Center South and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville in downtown ahead of Hurricane Dorian. Nassau County Baptist Medical Center informed Nassau County Emergency Management officials the hospital would close at 3 p.m. Monday. Baptist's emergency centers at Baptist Jacksonville, Baptist South, Wolfson Children's Hospital, Town Center, Baptist Clay and Baptist North remained open as of Monday. Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County, Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside, and Ascension St. Vincent's Southside will be closed to visitors only, beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, until the storm has passed. At St. Vincent's Clay County and St. Vincent's Southside, elective surgeries and procedures from Tuesday at 1 p.m. through Wednesday will be canceled and rescheduled.

2 teens rescued from surf at Neptune Beach

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – Two teenagers were rescued from the surf Saturday at Neptune Beach, the Neptune Beach Police Department said. The teenagers were rescued by two adults at about 1:15 p.m., police said. Police have not said if the teens and adults knew each other before the rescue. The teens and adults were taken to a nearby fire station for an assessment, police said. One of the teens and one of the adults were later taken to Baptist Medical Center Beaches for further evaluation, police said.
