Parker actually forfeited a district game in 2017 rather than play Trinity Christian. Forfeiting a district game is something I can't recall seeing since I've been doing this. In 2018, the Braves made a hire of a very, very successful middle school coach in Charron Dorsey. While he'd maintained the area's preeminent middle school program in Matthew Gilbert, Dorsey was still very much growing as a high school coach early in his career. St. Augustine had won 50 straight district games from 2003 through 2015 before an OT upset by Nease ended it.

Parker hasn't been to the state playoffs since 2000. Its last playoff win (one of only two) was in 1996. Now, it's one game for all the district marbles, and a home playoff game in Round 1 of the state playoffs. The Wolverines, then the Forrest Rebels, finished the regular season 7-3 and won the only playoff game in program history. We could even be in position for a Mandarin-Bartram Trail playoff game if they Mustangs are a 7-8 seed.

Week 4 of high school football is in the books and we look back in this week's Snaps. I mentioned before in Snaps about the Braves' growth in games that I'd seen them in and Friday was when it all came together. The Conquerors have been solid in three of those games, the only struggle a Week 1 blowout loss to Columbia (38-7). And Week 4 was Bartram's most convincing win of the season, and no doubt the most gratifying for the Bears. Package that with RB Jeremiah Huntley, who is putting up numbers week after week, and this has quickly become a very diverse offense.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA - Week 1 of high school football is in the books and Ill throw out a few thoughts on the week in a Snaps notebook following games. The fact that the Tigers put up yards without much resistance (519, according to the Florida Times-Union) is telling. The Christians have been a state power for probably as long as anyone currently involved with high school football can remember. And Bolles is Bolles, owner of a state-record 11 championships. The Bolles icon won 466 career games, sixth-most in high school history, and he was honored with a special plaza during the game.
