Award winning music venue celebrates its anniversary and accolades from the city

Blue Jay Listening Room, Jacksonville’s award winning music venue is celebrating their 7th year.  When the beloved Freebird Live closed, Cara Murphy saw a need for a music venue in her beaches community that was solely focused on the artist. “There was nowhere for artists and bands to play besides bars and restaurants. If you couldn’t book one of the bigger venues, you were forced to play to a bunch of drunk people who wanted to hear covers. So, I wanted a space that was the opposite of that.” In 2017, Cara opened Blue Jay Listening Room and since then, it has become a staple in the Jax music community, encouraging both local and national bands and artists to come and play their original music for a crowd of people who are there to actually LISTEN.        On August 18th, Blue Jay will be celebrating their 7 year anniversary with Trash Panda! Fly By the Blue Jay Listening Room

Blue Jay Listening Room was voted Jax Best Music Venue as part of our Jax Best Presented by Visit Jacksonville campaign.  Owner Cara Murphy has gone above and beyond to keep the doors open and support other local businesses.  She has partnered with Wildcrafters for twice weekly Kava Bar pop ups at her venue.  Wildcrafters opened in Riverside almost 2 years ago with a focus on creating a non alcoholic bar atmosphere that has been fully embraced by the neighborhood.
