Police: Man punched in the chest over social distancing
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. A 75-year-old man who recently had heart surgery was punched in the chest and knocked to the ground after asking a woman to maintain social distancing in a Florida grocery store, police said. The incident began Sunday evening as the man was checking out at a Publix store, Daytona Beach Shores police Capt. The older man had also left the store and was putting his groceries into his vehicle when another vehicle drove up and stopped, Fowler said. The victim told police that the man called him a name and accused him of holding up the line inside the store. Police said the man and woman left in a late-model Cadillac.
Volusia County man jailed, accused of threatening mass shooting
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. - A man was arrested Friday and accused of threatening a mass shooting in text messages, according to the Volusia County Sheriffs Office. It was unclear who Wix was texting or how deputies obtained the information. Authorities say Wix was arrested Friday at a supermarket in Daytona Beach Shores on a charge of making written threats to kill. The sheriffs news release says Wix told detectives he didnt own firearms but was fascinated with mass shootings. Was kinda hoping someone would come into my life worth not doing it for, for the sake of all those people (laughing cry face emoji).
