A Florida deputy is being hailed a hero after locating and rescuing a missing 5-year-old with autism from a pond on Tuesday.

A 61-year-old man, one of two people shot Wednesday night on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, called dispatchers himself as he said blood was pouring from his face, according to new audio shared by the Florida Highway Patrol. “I don’t know, but I’ve just been shot. I’m on the side of the road. Driver shot me in the face. I need help, immediately. I’m on Interstate 4,” the man said. “... I’m pouring the blood out.”

Menefee was also charged with trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in cocaine, possession of a weapon/ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

DELTONA, Fla. – Amazon is opening its fifth fulfillment center in Florida. The company announced Thursday it was opening a distribution hub in Deltona, Florida. The center will need 500 workers, who will earn $15 an hour or more, Amazon said in a statement. Amazon already employs 13,500 workers in Florida at centers in Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville. The company said it has invested more than $5 billion in Florida through local fulfillment centers and cloud infrastructure, research facilities and compensation to thousands of employees since 2013.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A 15-year-old Florida girl and her 11-month-old daughter have been found safe in Maryland, weeks after they went missing, WKMG-TV in Orlando reports. Volusia County deputies said Wednesday afternoon that Diana Rodriguez and her baby, Daniela, were found in good condition in Maryland. The Florida Department of Children and Families is working with authorities in Maryland to bring Rodriguez and Daniela back to Deltona. Family members said Rodriguez was upset about her phone being taken away, so she took her baby and crawled out a window to run away from home. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert on Tuesday, but the alert was canceled Wednesday night after Rodriguez and her baby were found safe.
