Jacksonville is waking up to dense fog and a severe drought, with fire risks increasing and only small chances for rain this week, according to Meteorologist Katie Garner from News4JAX's Weather Authority.

Northeast Florida and southeast Georgia are well-known for fog in the winter months.

Cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers this afternoon.  Widespread showers with isolated thunderstorms Wednesday.  Temperatures remain above normal through the week.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We’re starting off our morning with dense fog across SE GA and NE FL. A Dense Fog Advisory is in place until 10 a.m. Visibility could be less than a quarter of a mile to please allow yourself plenty of time to reach your destination and drive with caution. If you’re heading out to the Jags game Sunday afternoon kick-off is at 1 p.m. and you can expect temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Behind the front, expect mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 70s. Thursday wakes up in the chilly mid 40s and only warms up into the low 60s under mostly sunny skies.

Highs will sit in the mid to low 80s with partly sunny skies and a 20%-30% chance for showers. Right now the launch is a go and will take off at 7:27 p.m. You can catch the launch live on Channel 4. By Sunday evening a cold front will move in from the northwest leaving us with cooler air come Monday morning. Monday morning those across SE GA could see lows in the upper 40s and low 50s across NE FL. Thanks to the passing cold front we will keep the fall-like weather with daily highs in the upper 60s low 70s and lows in the mid to low 50s through the next week.
