8 schools, VA clinic among thousands of Clay Electric customers without power for hours
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – An issue with Clay Electric knocked out power for almost 23,000 customers just before 5 a.m. -- nearly 10% of the utility’s customers. Friday At 10:20 a.m., a large number of customers came back on and Clay Electric’s outage map shows residents and businesses dropped to just under 2,000. A spokesperson for Clay Electric said the outage was caused by a transmission line and several crews. Power restored to nearly 20,000 after Clay Electric equipment repair

Power outage leaves thousands in the dark in Clay County
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Thousands of homes in Clay County were still without power Saturday morning after a large outage that affected about 16,000 customers on Friday in addition to an outage caused by Thursday’s storms. According to Clay Electric, a problem inside the Orange Park district substation led to the outage. LINK: Clay Electric outage mapClay County Fire Rescue was sent to address a downed power line along Wells Road near the Orange Park mall on Friday night, though it’s unclear if was directly responsible for an outage in the area. Clay Electric was sent to the scene. According to Clay Electric, 2,700 homes were still without power on Saturday due to the storm.
