I’m surprised they didn’t come down on them any sooner than they did.”Jefferson says this creates credibility problems for the entire department. However, that may not matter if the City Council decides to abolish the department and allow the Sheriff’s Office to take over permanently.

The State Attorney’s Office announced it has dropped the case against a 37-year-old nurse’s aide accused of stealing $27,000 from a 78-year-old Jacksonville Beach woman who she was taking care of. The 37-year-old woman was facing one county of elderly exploitation and one count of credit card fraud. Prosecutors told News4Jax the case was dropped because of the death of the 78-year-old woman. Defense attorney Randy Reep, who’s not affiliated with the case, said it’s a technicality many people may not be aware of. According to investigators, the 37-year-old was the 78-year-old’s caretaker who “drained” $27,000 from the elderly woman’s bank account.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Two Flagler County teachers say they are suing the school board for discriminating against them because they are African American. Jawanda Dove and Travis Lee, two educators in the Flagler County school district, say they were denied promotions because they are Black. Attorney Randy Reep, who is not affiliated with the case, says these are potentially damaging claims against the Flagler County School Board. “If she’s able to prove that up, that can have significant financial exposure to the school system,” Reep said. Lee says he was not chosen for a Palm Coast High School position.

Waldon was convicted of killing Safar, a Northside business owner. Before Waldons 2002 trial, all other defendants reached plea agreements with federal prosecutors, and most of them testified against Waldon. Also testifying was Jacksonville Sheriffs Office Detective William Baer, who retired right before the trial. Here are the similarities: Both Waldon and Baer are former Jacksonville officers accused of killing store owners. Reep said though Baer is facing a murder charge, that doesnt mean he lied while testifying against Waldon in federal court.

We are a unified city/county government, so theres only one police department to govern Jacksonville," Reep said. You cant blame law enforcement for all the societal problems that are occurring right now. We can talk about them at the same time, have an honest discussion about policing, look at law enforcement if you want to. Reep also said defunding police means taking away money used for proper police training.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The mother of 5-year-old Taylor Williams -- who reported her daughter missing last year in what investigators say was a lie from the start -- is now charged with aggravated child abuse and tampering with evidence. Court documents suggest that Brianna Williams tortured, maliciously punished or caged Taylor sometime between the last time the girl was seen alive in April and Nov. 6 -- when Williams reported her missing. Prosecutors have charged Williams with tampering with evidence because investigators believe she dumped Taylor’s remains in Alabama before saying the girl had disappeared. Investigators later searched that apartment after Williams reported her daughter, Taylor, missing from the Brentwood home she moved to. Prosecutors also have Uber and Lyft records, documenting Williams’ activity with the ride-sharing services.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Human remains found earlier this month in a wooded area of western Alabama were identified as those of 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Monday. Waters said at a news conference Monday afternoon that DNA analysis confirmed the identity of the remains. The search later expanded to rural Alabama, where investigators focused on a 25-mile radius stretching from Demopolis, where Williams has friends, to her hometown of Linden. After the remains were found, Williams was hospitalized after ingesting an unknown substance. Williams remains in the Duval County jail on $1.1 million bond.

Agents contend the four defendants were smuggling American-made vessels and equipment to Shanghai Breeze, to eventually wind up with the Chinese government. The company that makes the vessels also makes vessels for the Navy, so it may have been prohibited from selling to the Chinese government. The I-TEAM found the Yangs and a Chinese national, Ge Song Toa, have all been detained as the investigation continues.

Chief Brian Kee, surveillance video shows Silney and the passenger, Jeanie Rozar, 50, arguing over the bus schedule. According to Kee, the video shows Rozar running alongside the bus screaming and attempting to free her arm before she was run over by the bus. Randy Reep, the attorney for Jeanie Rozar's estate and her 12-year-old daughter, spoke to News4Jax after Silney's arrest. Reep told News4Jax he has not seen the surveillance video recording from inside the bus. DeWayne Russell, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union, said he has seen the video and said Silney was inconsolable after realizing what happened.

The family of a man shot and killed by a Kingsland police officer plans to proceed with a civil lawsuit against the former officer. On Saturday, Tony Green's supporters and family were upset after a jury found former Kingsland police Officer Zechariah Presley not guilty of two counts of manslaughter, but guilty of violation of oath. Green's family obtained an attorney for a civil lawsuit, Reginald Greene, who said his team had to wait for the criminal case to end before the civil case could proceed. Local Florida attorney Randy Reep thinks because the family didn't win its case in state court, there could be a low probability in federal court. Presley's lead attorney, Adrienne Browning, said she plans to appeal the guilty verdict for violation of oath.
