A motorcyclist died early Monday morning after losing control and hitting a concrete utility pole on Shad Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The Florida Highway Patrol was at the scene of a crash Thursday night on Philips Highway at Shad Road, and according to its website, at least one person was dead.

An investigation over a suspicious package that led to a building evacuation Thursday morning caused Philips Highway to be closed in both directions near Shad Road.

A vehicle flipped in a crash early Wednesday on Philips Highway and hit a gas line, shutting down a section of the thoroughfare in both directions.
