News4JAX spoke with a local firearms instructor on Monday after an investigative report was released Sunday on the May 24 mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, that killed 19 students and two teachers.

Surveillance footage captured the gunman in the Uvalde school shooting enter the building with an AR-15 style rifle and later shows officers in body armor milling in the hallway outside the fourth-grade classrooms where 19 children and two teachers were killed.

When children head back to school in August, their safety is top priority.

As the Uvalde, Texas, community deals with the aftermath of Tuesday's fatal school shooting, many of the young survivors say the experience left them shaken and scarred. A second grader described his ordeal to CNN’s Adrienne Broaddus.

The last week of classes at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, ended in terror Tuesday when a gunman opened fire, killing 19 students and two teachers. News4JAX sister station KSAT in San Antonio, which is 85 miles from Uvalde, reported that 15 of the victims have been publicly identified as of Thursday morning.

The husband of one of the teachers who was shot and killed at Robb Elementary School while trying to protect her students has also died, family members confirm.
