Annette Taddeo would make Nov. 1, the day after Halloween, an official school holiday, according to WPLG. Taddeo, who represents District 40 in Southwest Miami-Dade County, filed SB 1462 in the Florida legislature on Monday. FORT PIERCE, Fla. – That darn wind is always causing trouble, especially for “Florida Man.”A man pulled over by police in Fort Pierce last month claimed the cocaine residue found inside a Budweiser can along with a crack pipe was blown there by the wind, according to News 6 sister station WPLG. Police noticed Joseph Zak, 37, appeared to be trying to discard an item when he was stopped for failing to pause at a stop sign, The Smoking Gun reports. When cops asked Zak about the white residue inside the can which eventually tested positive for crack cocaine, he told them "the police or the wind must have placed it there." Zak was arrested and jailed.

A new study by the financial website SmartAsset ranked Florida tied for fourth with Nevada and Texas for the state having the worst drivers in the U.S.Four metrics were used to determine the rankings, including the percentage of drivers who are insured, the number of DUI arrests per 1,000 drivers, and the number of fatalities per 100,000 vehicle miles driven. The good bad news is Florida ranks number one when it comes to having just 73.30% of drivers who have insurance. Things could be worse, just ask Mississippi, Alabama and California; the top 3 states in the "worst driver" rankings. (CNN) - An American woman died after a shark attack in the Bahamas Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Jordan Lindsay, 21, of Torrance, California, had been on a snorkeling expedition with her family near Rose Island, according to CNN affiliate WPLG. Around 2 p.m. she was attacked by three sharks, Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle told the station. Her family saw the oncoming sharks and tried to warn her, but Lindsay did not hear them in time, he told the station. She was pulled from the water and taken to Doctor's Hospital in Nassau, where she was pronounced dead, Reserve Superintendent Ronnie Bannister told CNN.
