The Supreme Court on Friday stripped away the nationโs constitutional protections for abortion that had stood for nearly a half-century. The decision by the courtโs conservative majority overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling and is expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states.
Biden marks 50M vaccine doses in first 5 weeks in office

On Thursday, Biden marked the administration of the 50 millionth dose of COVID-19 vaccine since his swearing-in. โWeโre halfway there: 50 million shots in 37 days," Biden said. โWeโll have the vaccine waiting,โ Biden said, predicting that point could come within 60 to 90 days. โWe have a plan to roll it out as quickly as Johnson & Johnson can make it," Biden said.
Top ten safest cities to visit in 2019
The Economist Intelligence Unit's 2019 Safe Cities Index (SCI) has ranked 60 destinations across the world in terms of their digital security, health security, infrastructure and personal safety. No big shocks there, these cities also made up the top three in the two previous SCI rankings, conducted in 2015 and 2017. While analyzing a city's resilience, the Safe Cities Index looked at the emergency services available in the city, transport facilities, catastrophe insurance, disaster-risk development and cyber-security preparedness. Cities don't have to be rich to be safe, the report says, although it acknowledges that cities in developing countries tend to appear lower down the list. The world's safest cities for 2019, according to SCI:1.
Child care costs more than a mortgage
Aguilar, a certified financial planner, says having another child -- as they hope to -- will push their child care costs beyond their monthly house payments. "You add up the costs ... and pretty soon you're paying more toward child care than a mortgage, and that's less than ideal," says Aguilar. More than half of moms scaled back their hours to save on child care costs and a quarter left the workplace completely.
