The Atlantic sea breeze is back!
The sea breeze is on the move, pushing showers and thunderstorms inland. These are heading west and will continue to develop near and along Highway 301 and US 1 for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia through around sunset. Locally heavy rainfall, lightning and strong wind gusts will be possible.
The pattern continues Friday as the wind shifts to the east-northeast. Rain chances along our beaches will start around 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. The sea breeze will push west of I-95 around 1 - 2 p.m. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will ride the breeze inland as they wind down after sunset.
The unsettled pattern, along with the onshore wind, continues this weekend. Showers and thunderstorms will be widespread on Saturday with reduced coverage expected on Sunday. Locally heavy rain with flooding and damaging wind from stronger storms remain the main hazards through Sunday.
Looking ahead, the heat will build next week with possible heat advisories.

Friday: Partly cloudy skies will become cloudy as the sea breeze moves inland. Showers and thunderstorms, 30-50 percent for NE FL, 20 - 30 percent for SE GA. Lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the low 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Wind: NE 10 - 15 mph.
Weekend: The pattern continues with building afternoon clouds and rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the low 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. The onshore wind continues through the weekend. This will bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the area, mainly between I-95 and Highway 301. Heavier rain is expected on Saturday.
