We’ll start Wednesday with plenty of sunshine before scattered showers and thunderstorms develop after 2 p.m. Rain chances sit around 40%, with highs near 91.
Thursday will be even hotter, with highs near 92 and heat index values approaching 102 degrees.
Storms become more likely Thursday evening before rain chances climb to 80% Friday afternoon and night.
The unsettled pattern continues into the weekend, with numerous showers and thunderstorms Saturday and scattered storms Sunday. Highs gradually ease from the lower 90s to around 89–90 by Sunday and Monday.
In the tropics, we’re closely watching Invest 96L, located a few hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
The National Hurricane Center gives it a 70% chance of developing, and a tropical depression could form within the next day or two. It is expected to move west to west-northwest across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic, generally carrying it toward the open waters east of the Lesser Antilles by this weekend.
Conditions may become less favorable for development by the weekend, so its eventual strength and path remain uncertain. It is still too early to know whether it will continue toward the Caribbean, eventually turn north over the open Atlantic or weaken before reaching the islands. There is no immediate threat to Florida, but we’ll watch its progress closely heading into next week.
