JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dozens of police officers and Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters spent Saturday afternoon with residents in the North Creek neighborhood for a community walk.

The neighborhood is located off Duval Station Road, not far from First Coast High School. The walk covered Summer Breeze Drive, Misty Morning Court and Haig Point Court, in the 32218 zip code.

News4JAX looked at the type of crime this area has seen over the past month: three vehicle thefts, one assault, one vehicle break-in, and one robbery.

While there is not much gun violence in this specific area, JSO still wants to make sure it is meeting the needs and concerns of residents.

“We had a great day, we had T.K. Waters come out and we were able to walk through the neighborhood and speak to different residents, and we were able to, when we finally made it back here to go ahead and talk about what exactly the concerns of the neighbors were so, it was a great walk,” a JSO officer said.

Sheriff Waters said these walks are important because they help bridge the gap between police and the community.
