Clay County Superintendent David Broskie will join The Morning Show on Wednesday to answer your questions as students head back to school.

The Clay County School District said it is reevaluating its spending as it faces a potential $10 million budget shortfall next year.

The Clay County sheriff and the Clay County District Schools superintendent recently released three videos on social media, addressing school threats, talking to children about them and explaining how they investigate tips.

Four candidates were seeking the District 2 seat on the Clay County School Board. This is a nonpartisan office is elected by all voters in the district, regardless of party. As no candidate got more than 50% of the vote in the August primary, the top two finishers, Robert Alvero and James Hughes, advanced to the November general election.

Clay County School leaders are pushing to keep a property tax increase in place to fund added school security.

The former Clay County Schools District transportation director and his wife were arrested Tuesday and are facing charges of grand theft, according to Clay County Sheriff’s Office jail records.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – An issue with Clay Electric knocked out power for almost 23,000 customers just before 5 a.m. -- nearly 10% of the utility’s customers. Friday At 10:20 a.m., a large number of customers came back on and Clay Electric’s outage map shows residents and businesses dropped to just under 2,000. A spokesperson for Clay Electric said the outage was caused by a transmission line and several crews. The VA’s Middleburg Outpatient Clinic also closed for the day due to the power outage. 🔺TRAFFIC ALERT:There is a large power outage in the Fleming Island area.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. Clay County Schools said there are no concerns with respect to two lingering issues the district has faced in the past: Portable classrooms and HVAC systems. Both issues have been discussed by the school board as possible problems in years past. In a statement to News4Jax, the district said, Clay County District Schools currently has 845 portables. Currently, the status of the HVAC units are stable and there are no major issues, the district said in a statement. News4Jax spoke with parents about this issue who are happy the district is improving its service schedule on HVAC units.
