Clay County Fire Rescue said on Friday that it is working on a house fire in the Lake Asbury area.
Lake Asbury is one of the fastest-growing areas of Clay County, and the county’s growth has been coupled with various road projects that have frustrated thousands of residents over the past few years. However, a recent plan expected to improve “connectivity between adjacent developments” in the county was recently withdrawn.
Clay County is in the process of approving the rezoning and construction of two new buildings at Oakleaf Junior High and Lake Asbury Junior High. They will be the first two junior high schools in the county to accommodate 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Parents of Clay County students should prepare for potential changes, as the school board considers new attendance boundaries for junior high schools.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - Various neighborhood walks conducted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office have led to drug raids in recent months. Smith said the walks through various Clay County communities have led to a larger crackdown on narcotics. Each time a home was raided, the Sheriffs Office left a sign reading, You had options, on the property. "Sheriff (Darryl) Daniels has a strong zero tolerance for drugs and narcotics," Smith said. The walks have become so valuable that the Sheriffs Office shifted from doing them monthly to almost weekly.
